5 Reasons to be Thankful for Chiropractic
1. Chiropractic Helps Relieve Pain
The most common reason people come to a Chiropractor is for pain relief, usually low back or neck pain. The fact that Chiropractic can relieve pain and keep it away without the use of drugs or surgery is the number one reason to get adjusted. Also, no side effects and the fact that Chiropractic treats the root cause of a problem and does not just cover up the symptoms for a limited period of time. As a matter of fact research has shown that 93% of people with chronic whiplash pain (like the kind you get from a car accident) who have failed Medical care and Physical Therapy care get better with Chiropractic care (Injury 1996). Why not try Chiropractic first?
2. Chiropractic Helps Relieve Stress
Stress can manifest itself in many different ways. In the Chiropractic world we like to say that you can be Subluxated three different ways:
Trauma (something physical happening to you)
Toxins (eating something not good for you)
Thoughts (negative/stressful thoughts and emotions
All of these things are stressors on your body and can keep you from being able to function at your best. Getting adjusted can help your body adapt and cope with these three stressors that can keep you from living a full happy and healthy life.
3. Chiropractic Improves Your Sleep
A very common issue you can have when you are stressed out is not being able to sleep well. I tell every single one of my new patients to expect to sleep really hard the night after their first adjustment (especially after your first upper cervical adjustment). The purpose of Chiropractic is to release the serious stressors on the nervous system so that your body can heal itself the way it is meant to. One of the ways the body rejuvenates and recuperates is when it is sleeping. So, naturally, after you have been adjusted and major stressors of the nervous system are released, your body rejoices in its ability to take care of itself better and takes full advantage as soon as it can (sleeping) to start fixing everything it was not able to before. We have all seen the studies about how important a full night of good sleep is, maybe the one piece missing from getting that good nights rest is a trip the Chiropractor.
4. Chiropractic is Great for all ages
Chiropractic care is safe for everyone at any age. I have personally adjusted babies the moment after they were born to someone 104 years of age. Babies only require the same amount of pressure you would use to test a ripe tomato, it is a very gentle adjustment. All can benefit from the enormous positive effects from Chiropractic care. Less dependency on medication, and improved overall health is a result of regular Chiropractic care for anyone at any age.
5. Chiropractic Enhances Exercise
A healthy diet and regular exercise are essential to your overall health. But sometimes people are just in the beginning stages of their health and wellness journey and find it difficult to exercise due to the aches and pains they have. Exercise ends up becoming a non-priority because it is too painful to complete even the simplest workouts. Getting regular Chiropractic care can help you stay pain free and even recover quicker from workouts and thus help you along on your journey to a happy healthy life.
I am personally thankful for a lifetime of being under Chiropractic care. Growing up I was spoiled. My father being a Chiropractor adjusted me before they cut the umbilical cord and checked me regularly throughout my life. Growing up I spent a lot of time trying to get myself out of wack, for example: climbing and falling out trees, bike jumping, skateboarding, wrestling, jiu jitsu, baseball, basketball, weightlifting, and many other crazy outdoor things I could get into while growing up in the country. Now through all of these activities I never broke a bone, or had any major injuries of any kind. I owe this to being under regular Chiropractic care. Always being checked by my dad and having being well adjusted meant that through all the jumps, falls, and bumps my body was able to adapt and recover quickly. Now that I am grown up and married to a Chiropractor, I am just as spoiled.
One of the greatest things in life to be thankful for is our health, and Regular visits to the Chiropractor is a great way to stay happy and healthy.
